STEWARDSHIP
Baptismal Call, Common Good & Discipleship

4 Ways to Teach Kids to Be Good Stewards When it comes to money, no parent decides they want their kids to grow up and be greedy penny-pinchers or uncontrollable debt-inducing consumers. As a parent, you have an opportunity to change the tide when you instill the value of good stewardship. Post by Dan Scot-Parent Cue
Discover Your Neighbor Motivated by love, inspired by the Gospel, and guided by our Catholic identity, the Maryknoll Society’s Discover Your Neighbor program empowers young people as agents of encounter to transform our world.

Communion Cash: A Child’s First Experience of Stewardship First Communion is a good opportunity to introduce children to the concept of stewardship: the sharing of our time, talent, and treasure. Parents can tell their children that for First Communion, they will be receiving gifts of cash and that this will present an opportunity for the child to share a percentage with those in need.
We Are the Church Our Baptism binds us together as the Body of Christ, and it is through our actions and faith that we proclaim the Good News as members of Christ’s Church.

USCCB - To Be a Christian Steward-A Summary of the U.S. Bishops' Pastoral Letter on Stewardship What identifies a steward? Safeguarding material and human resources and using them responsibly are one answer; so is generous giving of time, talent, and treasure.  But being a Christian steward means more. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.

TASK 6 – MISSIONARY DISCIPLESHIP AND SERVICE– Students acquire and demonstrate skills to recognize their gifts from God and their vocation to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed in the world.

The Essential Concepts come from the Table of Contents for the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). They have been re-organized to fit under the Six Tasks of Catechesis. CCC articles numbers associated with each Essential Concept are listed throughout this document. Referencing CCC article numbers is a recommended resource for catechist preparation.
