DEVOTIONAL PRACTICES
Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Novenas...

The Rosary for the Family has been carefully created by the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network and the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. Our team is delighted with this partnership in order to help families to pray and to pray as a family.

Archbishop Paul D. Etienne encourages us to pray the rosary.
Pop - Up Catechesis:
The Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross are a pilgrimage in place, a prayer devotion in which followers of Jesus can retrace the steps to the Cross without traveling great distances.

The quieting, mystical experience of Taizé prayer Imagine the scene. Silence. Church lights dim. On the altar table and the floor and steps around it, dozens of candles flicker, some atop pillars of pink and purple, the Advent colors.
Devotions Faith involves both the head and the heart. Catholic devotions and traditions enliven and nurture our Catholic faith, touching our hearts and allowing us to express our love of God.

Experiences Teaching Catholic Devotions During my planning of sessions this year, it occurred to me that young people in our programs never get exposed to the Stations of the Cross or many other traditional Catholic devotions. Even when I include the Stations in my plan, I’m teaching what they are, not leading or praying them with the young people. Maybe I needed to think differently about my approach, so this year I decided to try praying the Stations of the Cross and the Rosary with my seventh graders. (Denise Gorss)

Virtual Stations of the Cross Presenting the traditional devotion in a virtual way to help you reflect on the mystery of Jesus’ death and what it still means to us today. The Stations of the Cross is a devotion following the events leading to Jesus’ crucifixion. Prayers accompanying it allow time to reflect on the mystery of his death.  (Busted Halo)

How to Pray the Rosary? A Step-By-Step Visual Guide
The origin of the Rosary dates back to the year 800, but it has evolved throughout the centuries resulting in the Rosary that we know today. The Rosary invites us to make a beautiful meditation about the life of Jesus and the Holy Virgin Mary. Whether we pray it alone or with others, we can offer our Rosary for many intentions, always asking the intercession of Our Lady. (Catholic-Link)

USCCB-Popular Devotional Practices: Basic Questions and Answers As the Second Vatican Council pointed out so clearly, the life of the Church centers on the liturgy, the official public worship of God by the Church as the Body of Christ. The liturgy includes, above all, the Eucharist and the other six sacraments, but also other actions of the Church such as the daily prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours, the rites of Christian burial, and the rites for the dedication of a church or for those making religious profession.

TASK 4 – LEARNING TO PRAY – Students experience and engage in Catholic expressions of prayer to deepen their relationship with God and the Church.

The Essential Concepts come from the Table of Contents for the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). They have been re-organized to fit under the Six Tasks of Catechesis. CCC articles numbers associated with each Essential Concept are listed throughout this document. Referencing CCC article numbers is a recommended resource for catechist preparation.
