HOLINESS
Universal Call

The Church: A Temple of the Holy Spirit We are one with God, and He is one with us. We all believe in one faith and one true Lord, we are one with the Holy spirit, who dwells within us and fills us with faith. (Prezi presentation-Hannah Reuning)
“What the soul is to the human body, the Holy Spirit is to the members of Christ, that is, the body of Christ, which is the Church.” (Saint Augustine)

8 Things Holiness is NOT We all may, at different times, have different misconceptions about holiness. Here are a few (though not exhaustible!) myths busted about holiness. (Catholic-Link.org)

Learning by Imitation: Why Kids Need Saints Because human beings learn through imitation, as we seek to grow spiritually, we look to other people—parents, godparents, and others, who, by example, show us how to follow Jesus. By imitating the saints even in small ways, we can learn how to respond to God’s call in our own lives.
Which American Saint Are You?—Free Lesson Plan Help young people learn about selected North American saints and learn how to recognize holiness in themselves.
Name That Song (aka Name That Sin/Virtue/Gift) Listen to excerpts from songs and talk about the deadly sins, the virtues, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Called to be Holy: Cardinal Dolan’s
10-step Guide to Holiness
An edited excerpt from then Archbishop Dolan's "Called to Be Holy" Religion teachers and catechists are different from all other teachers because they have the opportunity to pray in class with their students. There are a variety of options that teachers have to choose from when selecting class prayers. The resources below are meant to assist teachers in selecting the best prayers for their classrooms.
Holiness and the Blessed Virgin Mary "As the chosen model of holiness the Blessed Virgin Mary is also our teacher of holiness who provides us with the example of her own life as well as with a lesson plan leading us towards the exalted goal of holiness." Sister M. Danielle Peters, Father Johann G. Roten, S.M.

USCCB - Embracing Our Universal Call to Holiness-Theological Reflection by Fr. Robert J. Hater The gift of holy intimacy with God is given to those who profess their faith in Jesus as Lord, are baptized, and live as he taught them (Catechism of the Catholic Church [CCC], no. 2777). Every baptized person receives a universal call to holiness. We are all called to be saints.
USCCB - Regifted-Universal Call to Holiness Life Night Outline Life Night at a Glance. This Life Night seeks to break open the foundation of all vocations—our call to holiness. The goal for this Life Night is to introduce vocation. It will address the universal vocation of holiness.

TASK 5 – EDUCATION FOR COMMUNITY LIFE – Students study and participate in the life and mission of the Church-the body of Christ and the community of believers-as expressed in the Church's origin, history, ecclesiology, the Communion of Saints, and their family, the Domestic Church.

The Essential Concepts come from the Table of Contents for the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). They have been re-organized to fit under the Six Tasks of Catechesis. CCC articles numbers associated with each Essential Concept are listed throughout this document. Referencing CCC article numbers is a recommended resource for catechist preparation.
